looked at the emblem today with disgust but it broke in a good place. i might be able to repair it. anybody ever weld pot metal? me neither. stay tuned space kiddies. before i destroy it i will make a sand mold of it.
hell it could be made of wood if need be. it will be a while before i try. got more things to do that actually make it a car.
the fender is in primer waiting to be blocked out. the passenger fender was from out west so no repairs just strip and paint. as we speak progress is happening, headlight buckets are soaking removing rust grit and grime. easy peasy.
You could practice on some match box cars befor you move to something that matters

yeah, i looked up some methods to fix it. there is a kit of sorts. im seriously thinking of making it from aluminum. one will pop up sooner or later. its not really a concern but sux i broke it. i will focus on more important pieces to reach the goal. things are going great so far. got a new windshield for 50.00 today. saw a corvette show and feeling pretty good today.

If you could 3D print one using the original as the template that would be cool.

yes it would. i am a 3d printer just not as fast. i can make one just need to decide what to do. aluminum then machine it or fiberglass or sheet metal. mostly just bothers me that it survived so long until i broke it. those 3d printers are very cool indeed.

got the other fender primed and ready. may be next week until its pink.
the passenger was awesome. got it years ago
from Arizona.

it was almost perfect. never could find a driver fender.
after the fenders, its time to really clean the shop. the next part will be the hood.
not much to do there. i hope to get all the problem areas done soon.
the goal is a rust free body. kinda what you would find in the late 60s early 70s.
something a high school kid would hot rod.

so far the cost is still low. got 12 bucks of pink and 14.00 of primer on the driver fender.
the passenger may be less than that if it lays smooth.

Jimmy, if I take your invitation to the GTO board on FB can I tell everyone how much faster my 1970 SS396 was and Audi are over over there overweight Goats?
Could be fun for a minute...
Just as with this site, I suspect that if you do that, you'll find that every one of the other guys has modern muscle or other vintage muscle in their garage too. No self-respecting kid only has one toy!

Yeah, but who stirs the poop over there?
Did you get @fcleff69 on board?

I had a 100% stock 1970 SS396, 4-speed. It really wasn't that fast but it was tuned to perfection. A buddy raced a SS/LA Nova and really helped get the Q-jet dialed in. It was quicker than the neighbors 1970 GTO with an automatic though.

For the most part, I intend to keep the Facebook page more professional than this and the GTO forum. Many of these people are using their wives Facebook account, and anytime anyone posts anything their family will potentially be able to see it. So believe it or not, I'm going believe it or not, I'm going to the docile

I’m surprised your Chevy was faster than the neighbors 70 GTO. Could have been a gear ratio thing or the goat wasn’t running right. While Chevy was the most popular back then, they were not the fastest coming out of GM.

It was a stock Pontiac with a shitty stock automatic and dead gears.
The 4-speed and 373 gears would have been more than enough even if the Chevy was down on power.
I haven't bothered to watch the video above but the 69's probably got an extra 350 lbs. of weight.
It really hard to compare stock old cars as the state of tune can be vastly different.
