been studying c4 spindles, had a passing thought about making a fixture and making a frames for the 57 and using them. i need to stay focused on actually getting it running and driving i guess. still got lots to do.

got some more rust to fix. to my knowledge they don't make lower fender patch panels for a 57 pontiac. its a good thing i do.

made this patch it has some compound curves so took about 2hrs.

got the welds smoothed down, i gotta strip the paint and check it with my contour gauge to see if it needs to be changed in any way. so far no filler will be needed. we will see.

this information may be helpful to anybody doing a disc conversion. 11 inch 70-78 camaro rotor the measurement from the outer bearing to the rear of the rotor seal is 3.6 inches. from the front face of the outer bearing to the rear of the inner bearing 3.4 inches. using A2 outer bearings and A6 inner. A2 dimensions .750 id x 1.781 od x .656 wide. A6 dimensions 1.25 inches id x 2.328 od x .625 wide. if your spindle is .750 outer and 1.25 inner its a fit ,you may need a spacer for the seal to ride on. if the inner bearing surface on the spindle is 1.375,use the A13 bearing. make some brackets or buy them for your application. calipers, use the d52 with d52 brake pads. you can use d614 pads for more stopping power. you will need 15 inch wheels made for disc brakes.

in my case i needed the A13 inner bearing and A2 outer. i need a .500 wide spacer for the seal to run on. the factory 57 bearings have a race that with some narrowing will serve as the spacer. a 64- 67 gto spindle may be the same as the 57 pontiac in dimensions.

35 spline axles make stock ones look like tooth picks. maybe they wont break.

still fixing rust on the fender. it had some in between the spot welded places. i drilled them out and separated the pieces to treat and repair the damage from corrosion. ill give a pic later to scare the hell out of some of you. i set my chair on fire twice, it got a little warm and sure enough about to roast the nuts again. i have to sit in a chair to repair the fender. i need to get a leather apron. but so far so good it will be fine just fine.

Not a GTO but appropriate place for this. Rolled her over the 100k mile mark today. As far as I can tell it’s the first time around. Funny thing is she is on her third engine and third transmission in that time.

And I know, the lense looks terrible. I have all the parts to restore the dash. Just haven’t felt like it.

^^Yep, looks like it was shot in a heavy rainstorm.

plastic polish will get it more clear until you take things apart. what ever you do don't clean the speedo face the numbers will disappear if you try. maybe dab at it with a damp paper towel. but be careful.

i found a rust remover recipe. it makes a gel and is easy to get and make. just cornstarch and vinegar. should be a safe product. im going to try it out and see.
