And this is another issue, which is becoming an increasingly difficult path to navigate.

On the GTO Forum that I use, one of the oldest, most respected members, just up and quit because he got sick of the newbs not using... or REFUSING to use the search function... and "the regulars" then spewing their pre-recorded advice.

A week later, same thing happened to me. I spend three days researching and listing detailed and accurate information to help someone, on Monday.

And then on Tuesday, a new thread opens on the same topic, and it get's into a heated freeforall, where all of the regulars scurry to be the one with the right answer... but never really listening to the issue, and so merely throwing shit on the wall, to see if it sticks.

I then sit on the sidelines, linking, and linking, and linking to the fucking answer, which was listed the day before, and no one listens.

Then they get snooty when I step up and call them out on it.

Bottom line is, there's room for everyone on a forum, and like I always say...

"Blessed is the man, whom having nothing to say, refrains from opening his mouth and proving the point".

It's awesome to be knowledgeable and provide help, but remaining silent when you have nothing to offer, is also a terrific skill.

I sense your frustration and I've been there, too, brother.
Yeah - obvs perceived tone is what it is, but the bottom line is that a proper search would have yielded much more usable info than the posts from the couple regulars who happened to see his question. At root I was actually trying to help, lol! But got called names and blocked.

Well said. I like it here.
There's nothing here to "not like". Like google says... "Politically incorrect social media". I've always described us as facebook without the assholes. Of course, the same applies to TB.

It's good to have you here. You don't have to follow any order, you dont have to refrain, you dont have to agree, you dont have to participate. All you have to do is take your own place in the community, and do your thing. You'll quickly find that our like-minded nature, has nothing at all to do with us all agreeing. We function so well as a society, because we merely respect each others opinions.

Even when they suck!

This something that only someone who has "been there" would understand.

Well, now you found the island of misfit toys, so the former things have passed away. We all "get it" here.

I searched "Talkbass deactivate" hahaahaah!
LOL!!!! I wonder if that means we have SEO here? Oh well, by the time afternoon rolls around, you'll have another ten people in here, who can relate to you and your TB experience.

I hope you wander about and find other areas of interest. We pretty much cover everything from gapping spark plugs to wedding centerpieces.

I will! Currently enjoying a wait at the Austin airport so...

I think it indexed an earlier post on this thread about someone getting TB to remove all their content.

Mike Watt in your avatar pic? That's pretty awesome! He's like a crusty hippie punk, and very kind and genuine.
Yeah, that's just two weeks ago here in Austin at the MSSV gig. Watt is the best. Double Nickels FTW! Seen him dozens of times. Here's us in 2015 at the Il Sogno del Marinaio show in Buffalo:

I haven't talked to him in years. I get a kick out of his Blue Oyster Cult covers! Double Nickels is one of my all time faves.
