Did it in garageband. I found an easier way to program complex beats thanks to a YouTube tutorial, where you use the livr drum beat, record yourself hitting it once, and edit the beat, which allows you to program every step you want. I then layered an acoustic drum set and an electric drum machine, kinda like what mick Gordon does on the doom eternal soundtrack. It realy gives the kick drum some oomph

That's really cool. I had a sequencer for a while and tried programming some beats, but gave up before I made anything musical. Was too committed to keys at the time. Maybe someday I'll get back to it.

Try out garageband. It's a good way to get into it. There is all sorts of tutorials on YouTube. The only downside is it's stock amp sims suck, so I use my joyo and zoom pedals instead. It doesn't record them true to how they sound, but I can get them close with additional EQs and over drives from garageband

Garage Band feels like it fights me at every turn. Like an Android user fumbling with an iPhone.

I was using Reaper for a while and found that more intuitive. But my music teacher gave me shit about it so I switched to Logic, and then ended up quitting lessons anyway. But I'm still using Logic because it's already set up for what I do (although I'm not really recording at the moment).

If I had a computer I'd try reaper or logic. Apparently you can program drums with fruity loops if you needed some, a buddy of mine does that. He gets much nicer recordings than I do

I do everything on an iPad. On one hand it's more intuitive, on the other, way more limited

Amen. I own one i-device (an iPad) and it takes me at least three times as long to do anything with it than it does on a PC or Android. I tried for an hour to download a couple of movies into it for a trip, and eventually Googled "how to" and ended up using VLC Media Player to do it. Apple simply doesn't want to make it possible. I saved the procedure for future use.

Yea it's definitely not for downloading movies like you would a PC. It's more designed for commercial "consumer" types. Like, if I wanted a movie for a trip, I'd download Netflix and use their download function. It feels like iPad deliberately makes it difficult to make it do anything else that can't earn them money.

As for garageband, use a stylas/apple pen. It helps big time. I never just rawdog it with my fingers, it's way too hard to get those precision edits

It suddenly occurred to me why it might be difficult for you guys to use garageband. I could never do it if I didn't use a stylas (or however it's spelled. The pen that interacts with the screen)

I had to look this up in spite of being an iPad user for years... apparently you can play videos in the Photos app if you import them but I've never tried it.

For an iPad it would be pretty hard to beat Cubasis, IMNSFHO. Which is profoundly odd, given how obtuse Cubase is on a PC. :ROFLMAO:

New song up, this one is a pop song with metal bass. By metal bass, I don't mean what I'm playing, but rather, a bass tone commonly associated with metal bass. Using my Joyo Monomyth and Dingwall Clone in this one (but the first verse only has a clean tone, using a zoom B1X4, on a channel that mimicks a darkglass vintage pedal)

Woah!! That looks way better than garageband! I might have to get it and try it out. How do you like it?

It's good, but there's the whole thing of using a touch screen and I prefer a mouse or trackpad. It's been very good for portable recording though, with an external USB interface to get multiple inputs in.

Thanks guys, the screen shots have me sold tbh. Garageband is super limiting sometimes, so it'd be nice to have more selections. Have you guys ever been limited to how many tracks you can add? Garageband seems to limit me for some reason

Actually, VLC works like a charm to load a movie or video onto your iPad. The pain in the butt about this is that for every function, Apple seems to assume you ALWAYS have connectivity. No. I want to be able to play movies while I'm on a plane or in a car and not connected to anything!

And I agree, Apple isn't interested in helping you do anything that doesn't make them money or that they can't make you pay to license.

Just for kicks, here's the process:

Follow these steps to wirelessly transfer computer files to the VLC mobile app on iPhone or iPad:

1) Make sure your iPhone/iPad and your Mac/PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2) Open the VLC app on your iOS device and tap Network. Next, enable Sharing via Wi-Fi, and it will show two URLs (website addresses). One will have a string of numbers, and the other will be your iPhone name, followed by the word local.

3) On your computer, open a browser like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Here, enter any one of the URLs you see in step 2 and hit the enter key. Make sure to exactly type http:// and the rest of the URL.

4) You will now see VLC’s Sharing via Wi-Fi screen. Drag the files you want to transfer on this browser screen or click the plus icon from the top right to use the file picker window and upload files from there.
