i think thats more driver than bushings. tires sway bar shocks makes alot of handling difference but i havent tried bushings.
The bushings would make an already stiff suspension stiffer. This could be a concern on an import like the Matrix, or on something that’s highly modified like Amy’s. I swapped mine to polyurethane and it didn’t change things much but I’m running stock, springs, shocks, control, and trailing arms.

To your point, I think other things have bigger impact. I swapped out the stock shocks and springs on an 84 Camaro and it was night and day. Springs were stiffer and a 1” drop and the shocks were designed to compliment the drop. That car rode on rails even without a rear sway bar.

Im sure its a bit of everything.

Chromoly tubular arms, eliminated flex and corrected geometry.

Greasable delrin bearings and spherical ends, eliminated bind and increased articulation.

Bilstein shocks/ UMI springs/ Oversized UMI sway bars, improved feedback, weight transfer, traction, and response.

A 67 A-Body would never be associated with handling, agility, traction, or confidence, but this is about as close as you're gonna get to that with one.

Back in the day, if my Trans Am went sideways, there was no bringing it back, this car even more so. But now I can completely control it... and I still dont even have great tires yet!

Used racing slicks was a sick performance update
I have to be careful with tires because Pontiac didn't use corporate GM diffs. they used a weaker 8.2 BOP diff, which I adore, but it's not very tough. Better to burn tires than to sweep up spider gears.

Im telling you, these tires really are commendable.. Iif I want to burn them, I can, yet their tendency is to hook.

I suspect that my suspension is helping that.

What year A body? The 2nd hand 3rd gen were pretty good from the factory but got way better with upgrades. 2nd gen suffered from lack of power but that could be dealt with too. The Camaro I owned had the low output 305. I removed the smog equipment and did the typical bolt ons and it was night and day different. Huge improvement was spacing the throttle cable to the transmission, basically adjusting what rpm the trans would shift at. The stock shift points were really early on the one I had.

The struts/springs are toast, but I am willing to change out any or all other components to get the result I am after. I am not in a hurry to start swapping parts. I need a plan first, then the wrenching will commence.
I would see if QA1 or some other specialist makes a complete kit.
