This would be intriguing to me. I’m not as nose up to the idea of running a modern driveline under a classic car as some in the hobby are.
It's actually quite popular!!!

Think about it... so many C5 Vettes out there, FULL FRAMES! fully loaded, garage kept, fast as Hell, best steering and brakes in the world, AND DIRT CHEAP, because they look so dated.

$18,000 for one with 40,000 miles on it! And for that $18k, you're getting an LS4 engine with 450 hp, the entire interior, stereo, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust...

So you unbolt the body and throw a 67 Firebird on there...

Ive not seen one where they needed to mod the body
it looks like they moved the rear forward and shortened the doors. then made a body kit. could be the angle of the pic. you could use the quarter skins to widen it. then do the same on the fenders. make a metal body kit and do it cheaper than buying one. i have used floral foam and shaped a mold to fiberglass but i prefer working with metal.

i wonder if a 67 gto would be a fit? extend the drive tube on the c5 vette? i do know a 94 caprice frame is very close to a tri five. even the floor will work. might be a cool project find a rusty tempest or gto body and start building.

I doubt it's worth it. They make modern GM A body frames for $15k... unless you have the parts it'd nickle and dime you to death
your right. they make them in grant AL. pretty much any custom frame you need. i get caught up in the engineering of building one. there's enough talent on here to build anything. we can let jim c be the quality control. i like his honesty.

I missed out on a 90 Vette a couple years back. It sold for just over $6k. It had ~90k on the clock and was an automatic car which probably impacted the price quite a bit. It was a very 90s color being teal with a tan interior. I actually like the later LT1 cars. Only issue it had was the drivers door had a small chunk missing along the edge. It was too nice to sit outside so storing the 81 held me back. I’m weighing options now to get rid of that one. I don’t like it enough to put the work into it that it needs.

c4 vettes are cheap for what you get. drop a LS or 383 in there and have a fast great handling car. ive never drove one
so im sure it has its bad points too. but on paper looks impressive.

I’ve driven a couple older ones from before they started putting the LT1 in them. Even with the older TPI engines, they were pretty good

May have a taker for the Corvette. Guy my sister knows has several Vettes and is interested in it. Fingers crossed. It’s a nice car that needs way more work than I’m willing to do to it. If it was a year older and a stick shift, it’d be a different story.
good luck. its probably for the best. i think it will get a good price. i would rather have an automatic then swap it to manual from what i saw. looks easier.

I’ve honestly been thinking about picking up a BRZ, a Miata, or an older WRX and doing some road course events. To do so, I need garage space. Since I don’t see myself moving any time soon, something has to go.

The Corvette also has some family sore spots associated with it. That car caused my old man to be POed at wifey when we moved. I was storing for him at my last house too but lived way closer to him there.
i haven't drove a wrx but i sit in one at a salvage auction. i was comfortable in that car. probably would have bought it if it were auctioned that day. it would be my pick.

talk about easy oil changes. that old firebird needs no jack to do the job. and no its not high off the ground.
just enough room to slide the drain pan under it. i can reach the drain plug from the side. and the filter on the other side. been a long time, brought back some memories of younger days. silly i know its just an oil change. hearing it fire up will be nice.
