Can someone please talk me out of buying a semi hollow bass like a Gretsch or an Epi Jack Casady?

I used to have a DeArmond Starfire (not Guild) and didn't bond with it. The Casady sounds good in demos, as does the Gretsch. I don't NEED ONE. It would fit in with my current band better. I do not need one.
been wanting one for years, lettuce know what you get.

I love my Casady, it's currently my most played bass. Even more than my bulls or my 'Wicks. Absolutely love it. DO EET!!!
(FWIW I didn't NEED it either, but I don't regret the acquisition for one second!)

At your service sir.

Agreed.

I was with Michael Stevens in his shop. When he selects wood for a fingerboard (usually rosewood) he listens for pitch resonance and definition. He will thump the board and listen to its tone until he finds the right one for the instrument he is building. Each instrument gets the best possible board. I think that makes a big difference. I don’t know if other woods resonate the same way as rosewood does.

For me, I find that maple is simply more comfortable to play on.

I saw that and wondered if it had ever seen any sort of formal testing or approvals.
Photos say no; FCC, UL, CE, etc. have not seen this baby.
Chances are the builder is highly educated in electrical safety, but I'd be afraid of loosing my house or business if something bad happened.
Now if you unplug it when not in use...!
