Nah, they wanted it to sound that way. I’m sure that amp could put out enough low end for a mic or DI to work with.

June 7, 2020 at 11:40 am #123765That’s a good video and a terrific player. But I can’t stand that tone.
It’s an SB-2… there isn’t a tone, you ninny.
“But I can’t stand that combination of neck and bridge pickup volume.”

June 8, 2020 at 7:43 am #123879G&L MJ-4 reviewed by Ed Friedland
How could I forget Ed? Great player and different styles. Only thought; has he ever said anything negative about anything he’s reviewed? His playing is certainly enough for a decision though.
I love Ed. I bought a howto book from him when he was in his 20’s. But yeah, I don’t recall any negative reviews by him.

Sounds pretty gnarly! I see why you want one now.
I prefer binding with the blocks. Used to only like pearl, but the black and maple does look good.
If I have a choice, I prefer ebony or rosewood for the board, though. Pearl is the way to go then.
I think roasted maple boards look good with black blocks, though.
So many choices!JP

I have a Bluetooth speaker that I connect to my MacBook and I set the volume there. I play my bass through my Trace Elliot Elf and matching 2×8 and balance the volume there to slightly override the Bluetooth speaker. That way you can hear my bass line over that of the song but still hear the song. I record it all on my phone using the phone mic.
I’d probably get a much cleaner sound going through my interface and DAW but this is just an easier setup that seems to work fine for now.

Cool. Trying to come up with a reasonably easy way to record myself so I can truly hear how badly I play. Also, it’ll help me get better and share ideas with friends.
When my knee starts feeling better, I’m going to try to use my GT-1B as an interface to my laptop and see how it works.
Gonna look for some bass-less backing tracks I can load into Reaper and see if I can figure it all out.JP
