I just got a lesson in time zones. Central is not Eastern.

I don’t think they do DST, either. Means 11pm for us I believe.

Hef, loved the energy… even with the simplest bass part, you gave all, breaux!  Solid playing, too.  Tasty and fitting runs.

Kudos to the guy to your left.  Eddie?  Dude knows his stuff and EVH’s!

Thanks for the invite, Hef.  I’m not sure why, but this gave me a sense of normalcy I haven’t known in awhile.

    Thanks, again!

Pretty nice setup with the A/V aspect of the livestream, too.  Sound levels were evenly mixed… multiple can angles… definitely kept it interesting!

After the gig last night, I was hoping a day off for you.

I’m sensing more coffee, around 1pm.

Just remember.  I’m here to help.  The kids have been subjected to this animated series in school, so I figure if this crap is chasing me in my nightmares, it might help you stay awake…

Just watched the follow up while doing my order. Yeah, vocals had a rough start. I didn’t hear it on stage so much, but after the show the vocalists said they were having a hard time hearing themselves.
Throughout rehearsal John was really concerned about the Sammy Hagar tune because his range is so much greater than Dave’s. But he sounded better on that one during the performance. And it just goes to show you how unique Dave’s vocal stylings are.

Being a singer, I can relate.  I’ve all but given up on the idea that i’ll ever hear myself well enough on stage again to produce an adequate vocal performance that will make me happy on playback.  And I’d say 90% of the bands I see have this problem.

It just illustrates what I’ve been saying for a long time, that you can have the best band in the world, but if the vocals aren’t excellently done, that’s what people will notice.  And it’s not always the singer’s fault.

Sometimes it’s due to singers not believing they need to practice at home to keep their voices in shape, or thinking they don’t have to warm up before a show.  But sometimes you can do all those things but not hear a note you’re singing on stage, which reduces any singer to screaming to be heard over the fray, and that does not produce a good sound.

FWIW, even though I noticed the vocalists were struggling a bit, I thought you guys sounded great!  So much better than many of the streaming shows I’ve seen, and we even watched on our big screen TV with the excellent sound system.  Well done 🙂

At the club I used to mix in vocal monitors were always job one. We got a ton of positive feedback on that. Oh, wait… 😎
