Hey, I’m a coffee enthusiast, not a coffee snob.

On my way to work, I walk right on past the flirty mermaid and help myself to some 7-11 Columbian.

    the flirty mermaid

This one took me a second.

Being from Seattle, I feel ashamed.

    However,

    flirty mermaid?

    I’m stealing that.

    Sitting here like uninvited company.

I like coffee that is rich, strong, and powerful but not bitter or burned tasting.

What a coincidence, that’s just how I like my women.

Hahaha, my asshole ex whose guitar playing I did not link to used to say he liked his coffee like his women.  Hot, black and on the kitchen table.  He did have his charms, though I am decidedly not black.

Am I the only one here who doesn't have a signature?

I’ve been heard saying that a time or two (regarding my Ex).  But never since SSB showed up.

So my coffee today is Maxwell House Original.  Yap,,,,  For a mass produced coffee it’s not bad.  I think that’s the best that can be said about it.  But I think there are many coffees that are both mass produced and small batch that are bad.  Here in Colorado locally owned and operated is a big deal.  In a sutdy from 2019 (that I just looked up and have no idea if it’s accurate) Colorado ranks 3ed in Craft Beer Brewers, 7 in coffee roasters, and of course #1 in pot shops.  When I had a life outside the home I would stop and get a cup at Pablo’s or Leelas in DTC a few times a week.  But I would still at times get a bitter or burnt tasting cup.  What I’ve come to recognize is that there is some benefit to a homogeneous cup of coffee.  So I save the good stuff for the weekend.  That way I can taste the difference and have the time to enjoy it.

With that said.  I’ve noticed that some of the more expensive supermarket brands are owned by a larger mother company that own several coffee brands.  IE Maxwell House is owned by Kraft, who also owns Gevalia Coffee and McCafa.  Gevalia is sold as a premium brand, however the USA brand is rosted and ground in the same facility’s as the others around the US.  So are we looking at a Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet scenario, where all the parts are GM, jut the branding differs?  And Kraft is not the only one doing this.

    Never heard of it.

Hef recommended it and I ended up buying a case.  I use it to spike my Folgers.  The result is something pretty enjoyable, if not technically coffee in the strictest sense.

It’s also good for baking.  I gave my assistant at work a jar for her fudge.

I also use it in baked chocolate dishes.  It’s great stuff, really makes the chocolate pop.
