But I’m not sure because I’ve never used an octave pedal before and I haven’t had much more time to play with it. I got it off TB classifieds. If it had been a store, I would have returned it. But now I’m not sure how I want to handle it. I don’t really have the energy to deal with it right now.

I have played with the Akai Unibass a bunch, and it’s easy to use and lots of fun. It sounds like a 16-bit video game representation of an ’80s hair metal guitar solo. I don’t think I could use it for any real music, but the kids dig it.

That’s a bummer. Maybe when you get a minute you could find a youtube video of that pedal for reference?

I think I know what it’s supposed to sound like.  But I don’t know whether my inability to get the sounds I want is a matter of skill, gear, settings… or if it’s just a busted pedal.
