What’s in there now? I’d use either 250k or 500k depending upon the pickups. Volumes/blend come before the OBP-3, so should be treated the same as any passive bass. I still haven’t made it to the PO- I’m sorry! Soon, I promise!!!!

I’ll check, QC.  I’m thinking it’s fine, as is.  The push/pull I ordered is 500K, so there’s that.

Again, no hurry and no apologies, QC. I appreciate the help, breaux!  If it’s any consolation, I still haven’t replaced the pots in the SB-2T, yet.  Lol!

I’m thinking I’ve got a little more time for projects like these, now.  Hehe.

There was a footnote on the OBP-3 wiring diagram recommending to check with the pickup manufacturer (Bartolini MK1’s) for control pot values.*

For Schitz and Gigolos, I did… but as with most manufacturers, they haven’t gotten back to me… yet.

I did check with Best Bass Gear, asking for a quote for a prewired harness with the OBP-3 pre… it was north of $300.

With a little help from my friends, I can do it myself and save way more than I would, if I had switched to GEICO.

*I can only assume Ibanez did too, when they initially selected components for their basses… hence, whatever is in there from the start will more likely work with the new pre… famous last words.

Pots are cheap. You can always try both 250 and 500k. I’d probably default to 500k to keep as much treble as possible. I’m going to the PO tomorrow!

FYI, Ibanez SR805 (stock) pot values for control circuit:

    Volume – 250K (audio)

    Blend – 500K (audio)

    Bass – 100K (linear)

    Mid – 20K (linear)

    Treble – 100K (linear)

Just received, today.  From a known good source (thanks, QC!), the OBP-3 is on it’s way, too.

Pretty speedy delivery, by the USPS.  I’m guessing they’re all caught up by now, but I’m not holding my breath.

Place your bets, as to when the OBP-3 will be delivered (from MA to OH).

Found the wiring diagram for the SR805.  It lists the volume as being 25K, not 250K, as I thought I had seen on the back of the physical pot.  Typo, possibly?

It could be 25k since it appears to be post-preamp.

Btw, you’d want 250k or higher for the OBP-3 volume control, since it’s pre-preamp.

Thanks, QC.  I’m glad I listened to that little birdie when I was ordering the parts, too.  The push/pull I ordered is a 500K, so it sounds like that decision is made.  Lol!

The rabbit hole of volume before the preamp, or after… pot values… do you install them on Mondays, or Fridays… does loading affect your output signal, or does it wholly depend on which way the wind is blowing… phuc, I can’t even choose between Maryanne or Ginger, anymore.

Aaarrghhhhh, me boners in a hard place!

Just use a big fucking hammer to put the knobs on and you’re good.

Not sure how the USPS did it, but they successfully delivered a package 750 miles in two days… however, the last scan shows it sitting in the local processing plant, 17 miles away, ever since…

… I’m thinking they should change the marketing from ‘2-3 Day Priority’ to ‘We’ll Get It There Sometime Between Now And Never’.

There may be an upcharge for future tracking.

A week after it was scanned as received in Columbus…

    IMG_20210119_150517_01

… simply amazing.  What’s sad is there is no repercussion for getting it there, way past what is advertised.
