Just saw this podcast episode over on TB. It’s basically an interview with Pancho Tomaselli. They mention some new MFD JB pups…very intriguing…

Do you keep moving that picture of fred sanford around?

First, whack the driver, then, off the passengers. I want everyone in the car whacked off.

Maybe. You’ll have to keep watching to find out.

A solid 1 hour and 14 minutes of stream of consciousness dude talk. I skipped around and didn’t hear any music or see much G&L related info. Did I miss the good part(s)?

Best part was when they talked about the MFD JB pups that are being developed.

I used to love that game. I was really surprised that it never caught on.

Got the SB-1 really singing here. I’ve opened the pups a little more for a touch of growl and added some lines in the upper register.

I never participated… the voyeur in me loved it.  If he stays much longer, I’m charging rent.

I decided to see whether there was any reason my SB-1 action needed to be so high, other than just the inertia of having it set that way for so long.  The relief was fine, so I lowered all the saddles to give me ~0.08-0.10″ over the 12th fret.  I bottomed out two of the saddles but got close enough.  Then I lowered the pups just a hair to where GuitarsByLeo says Ed Friedland keeps his (0.115″ or so).  Soooooo much easier to play, but loses none of its mojo and no buzzing.  Stupid not to do this years ago.

    L2k is next….

Took the G&L to rehearsal, this evening… played through a Carvin PB 150… sounded great, especially when it was just the drummer and I.  Need to EQ explore when the keys are introduced, as I seemed to get lost in the sauce, as it were… not as pronounced.  I believe our levels were good, too.

I’d be afraid to try, but maybe I will.
