And yet, I fear the Vmax and have never ridden one!

I feared the Vmax when I bought it. After a while I was searching for more power. 😉 At some point 145HP and 90ft-lb of torque was no longer satisfying my acceleration addiction.

Somehow, I don’t think the same thing would have happened with the Kawasaki.

I was working on the Vmax once and, for a reason I don’t recall, I took it for a test drive with the air cleaner cover removed.

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful sound those four intakes made when I hit the throttle! It really spoke to the bass player part of me (and nearly sucked the zipper off my jacket).

The Vmax was a funny phenomenon. I went from an FZR1000 (Fastest superbike on earth at the time), which was much faster than the VM, however, the VM, with it’s little brakes and outdated steering and suspension, was much scarier. Plus, no fairings, and the torque. The VM was no maatch for the FZR, but the VM would leave without you, if you werent careful. Sport bikes dont do that.

I put velocity stacks on mine, and drove it a round for a few weeks, but then I made the vents to function.

Unlike George Michael, who looked and sounded terrific!

I don’t think we’ve ever jacked a thread harder off its original topic than we’ve jacked this thread.

This was a thread started for Fender musical instruments (mostly basses).

I wonder why Leo didn’t file until Nov ’52? Or maybe there’s a lag time between applying and “filing”? I know any patents I’ve been on took a long time to appear. I bet Bonin knows more about this. 🙂

They’ve been making the same thing for over 60 years with nothing more than bold new colors; is there much more to say?   😉 It’s too bad I can post pictures from my iPhone as I’ve kept the best 6 out of many; the oldest being 1960 and the newest being 1974. OK, the 7th is from 2018 but who cares about that?

Maybe a thread about white ceiling paint. There have probably been more advancements there.  💡

    And we love you

I’ve got a reproduction of this one on my wall.

“Filing” and “applying” are basically the same thing.  The filing date is the day you submit a complete application.

It was different in the ’50s, but these days applications typically stay private for 18 months (unless the applicant asks the Office to publish the application earlier or later).  But a published application is different from an issued patent.  An application will publish no matter what.  But the application has to go through examination to issue as a patent that the applicant can assert against infringers.  Right now it generally takes a year and a half to several years for a patent application to issue as a patent.

Sounds about right. My experience is that it’s taken about 2 years.

I’m outright astonished by the Vmod. It cuts through the band, and I can finally hear my DG strings and octaves, over the drums. I ordered another set for the battle P, and maybe even trying them in the LB

    Awesome.

So ya didn’t need to spend half of rehearsal with a screwdriver making adjustments?
