    That’s a great combo.

    Bass and amp.

I am not one of those JBL snobs, but I put a JBL K 140 15 inch speaker in that cabinet, and it really sounds nice with passive basses.  Sounds like crap with active basses.

Passive is where it’s at, for me.

My old SR5 is one of the basses I regret letting go of.

    It was active, yes.

    But man, what a tone.

That’s got me thinking about a Kiloton 5 now.

The Sterling is one of those basses that bridges the gap between two styles I like.

    FSOs, and sleek/compact modern basses.

I think it would be appropriate for you to get one.

Well that settles it.  It is good to set goals.  New Sterling by December 31st sounds reasonable?

    Ehhh,

Maybe a few more months down the road.

I just bought a new bass and 3 pedals, so I’m pretty tapped out for the rest of the year, as far as new basses go.

It took a while for me to get used to this neck, I think it is described as a baseball bat, but I really do enjoy playing it. It has GHS Precision Flats on it.20201116_133749

The Steve Harris sig and the 58 AVRI, are currently the only in production (I believe). Most people refer to the profile for making it feel like a bat, but IME, it’s always associated with the 1.75″ nut

I never tried any of the SS Ampeg stuff. When I was younger and in my “bigger is better” days, after 15 years of resisting all Ampegs (just as with Fender), I finally was ready to buy.

The SVT 3 Pro sounded the best but I thought that its wattage was too low, so I had to have the SVT4. However, it sounded like poo on a stick so I never bought either. Now, the 3’s cost a shit ton! And they’re not US made, so I refuse to buy one on principal.

I’m super curious to hear someones assessment of the Jazz Vmods!!!!!!!!!!! Did @metron ever reveal the actual model of his Jazz? Ugh… this needs to be in the Fender thread.

never tried any of the SS Ampeg stuff.

The old “rocket” combos from the early ’00s sounded terrific to me.

I think it was the B100R.

    100 watts, 1×15″

I kinda wish I had one.

The Ampeg cabinet in the picture is actually a B200R, but the amp took a dump, so I just use it now as a cabinet.  It’s a perfect set up for the house.  If you play at high volume it rattles like crazy.  But before the head died, it had a really nice tone.

    Whoops.

I meant that the B100r was the one I played through.

I knew what you meant.  The B100R and B200R are both pretty cool looking and sounding amps.

Sorry mang I made the model reveal as cryptic and confusing as possible. Just like a real Fender!

Its a 2013 ‘74 reissue so unfortunately no vmod pickups.
