Here are my first forays into the world of DIY pedals.  I started with the kits below and will be starting my first self-source build of a BBE Sonic Stomp clone this weekend.

These are, respectively, The Swede, a Boss HM-2 clone from https://buildyourownclone.com/ and the Refractor, a Klon Centaur clone from https://aionelectronics.com/

    swede
    refractor

When I’m done with the sonic stomp, I’ll post pics of that too.

    Anyone else into clone building?

Also, I didn’t solder anything to anything that wasn’t supposed to be attached to each other…. coughhefcough

    Get out.

Awesome, @kriegs!  Look forward to the progress of it, and them.  Any sounds clips available, from the two already fabricated?

I’d love to do this, but I barely have time to wipe Hef’s ass, right now.

Love to but I don’t think I’d have the patience to spend hours working on micro-electronics.  Pickup swaps is enough for me.

I’ve wanted to do this. I’d love to hear sound samples! I have yet to research what the good kits are.

I’ve wanted to as well. I did build a on board preamp (stingray clone) that I never quite finished, for the bass out in my workshop, that I never quite finished. 😕

Playing bass for 35 years, taking time out for meals, of course

Nah, I’m content with rolling my own and experimenting with changing different components and seeing what the effects are.  Specifically, I’m working on learning how how to modify effects to work better with my bass tones vs. my guitar tones.

No idea who Mike Matthews is but he kinda looks like Hef after he takes off the makeup after a performance that he’s particularly happy with.

    Get out.

Life becomes cluttered with unfinished projects doesn’t it?  I always say I want to go back and finish them… but I rarely do =/

Here’s my Stingray 2-band clone, as you can see, still missing 2 resistors, a cap……….and the bass

    I can’t tell if that’s a kazoo in his mouth, or a cob…  since that’s not Hef, it’s probably a kazoo…

Andy, is that from a kit you can buy?  I have a Stingray clone I put together a couple of years ago, and this might add some zing to it!

The pedals look great. Ive only ever done an amp kit but this looks really interesting. Pedals look a little more challenging than amps due to the size and layout but no high voltage is a plus 😀

Kriegs do you have a breadboard? If not, that might be your next step for customizing designs.

    Very cool stuff!

Mike Matthews is the originator, guru, and owner of Electro Harmonix.  A genius, but a horse of a different color to be sure.

But if you replace the cigar with a cob yeah, I can see some of Cleffie in there pretty easily.

Stogie.  Mike always seems to have a stogie to chomp down on.

    TB

    I got it from here:

    https://www.talkbass.com/threads/pcbs-for-diy-clone-2-band-preamps.737117/

    Which came from here:

    https://www.talkbass.com/threads/stingray-aftermarket-2-band-pre.614382/

there’s some really good stuff in there, so if anyone has a month to kill………………..

Edit: I know I picked up more than one, I’ll see if I have one stashed somewhere.

    I’ve done a few of these…

But I also pulled a Semour Duncan Preamp out of a bass once, and made it into a pedal. I love the Duncan pre’s but don’t want active basses. It made an awesome DI box and EQ.

Trapped in time, surrounded by evil, low on gas. When does this happen in the movie?

All the effort to grow a Chia pedal, yet the knobs are just written in marker. That thing better nail Chewy tone.
