Now, for a curve ball.
Honey pale ale.
It has a deceptive nose of light honey, and bready yeast.
The palate has some of that, but overall, has a certain “heavyness” to it, with a strong hoppy backbone, that lingers in the finish and aftertaste.
Not my favourite, but enjoyable in it’s own way. That strange light nose, heavy palate character has happened before, and tends to catch me off guard.
Just the same, from this brewery, I tried a raspberry blonde, that was the opposite. Big on raspberry in the nose, very light on the palate.
Curve ball, indeed.
This brew is a respectable 7%abv/45IBU.
Which, means nothing, just like specs of a bass, mean nothing until you handle it yourself.
Sitting here like uninvited company.
