in highschool i drove a 64 impala no carpet i think every panel was a different color had 75 monte carlo swivel seats, loud glass packs tires that were so slick driving in the rain was very educational. no license plate. didnt even have to have keys to start it. use to do burn outs on the speed breakers at walmart. if i did that now it would be jail city.

It’s kind of a toss up. There was the 78 Cougar XR7 that I never registered. Bought it for $25 and sold it for $400 a month later. There was the 92 Celica that I installed a roll cage and then got bored with it before it was done. There was the 99 Crown Vic junker car tgat I wrecked on the track last year. It was full of mold and mouse crap. Worst one that was my daily was a 89 Full sized Dodge van. Had a 318 but was a huge pile of crap.

My first car was a ‘72 LeMans. It was black with a few remnants of a white vinyl roof. Probably more rust than paint.

The interior was a mess. I think it still had some carpet. Speedo didn’t work so I had to try to judge my speed by the rpm’s. No dash lights so I was driving blind at night.

Not sure how it happened, but the tranny took a poo and my dad didn’t want to get it rebuilt.

I've had over 60 cars and trucks, and many of them were giant turds. But I guess the worst was a 67 Nova that had no floors in it, and the previous owner didn't tell me. It had a three on the tree so me and my friends used to drive it around and beat the hell out of it until one of my buddies tried standing up while we were driving and his feet went through the floor. The car had rubber floor mats but nothing beneath them.

Of course my 65 super sport Impala had the control arms ripped out of the frame and the rear flew out of the car while my drummer and I were drag racing.

2006 GMC 2500 - Rear diff broke in half crack down the middle. Trans and transfer case rebuilt. Brake lines rusted through. Engine harness broken at MAF and TPS. flex plate broke, driver side seat frame broke. Replace HUBs. Owned 8 years drove it only 30K as my main source of transportation. I average 30K a year. Purchased in 2009. When I changed the hub in 2011 found the frame openings packed full of dirt like it was a flood car. Sad thing highest purchase price I bought for my self. 15K for repairs. sold 2K total junk.

Never had a real PoS but did have a 66' Chevelle that had seat covers, a 283 with P/S and 3-speed on the column.
I bought it from the Dodge dealership I worked at in 1976 for cheap. Allowed my 70' SS396 to stay under the carpet and this was my daily with faded gold paint and a little rust in the quarter panels.
It was good for a couple years but no AC made it a hot ride in the summer.
Eventually sold it when my dad gave me his Buick LeSabre with a 455.
It was gold too but super clean.

driving crappy cars was kinda what we did for fun. get them cheap raise hell with them. we would get on old back roads and hone our driving skills. play tag, run them through the ringer. one of my friends had a 75 or 76 i dont remember mustang. no driver fender the headlight was mounted on the bumper in a maxwell house coffee can. when the river was down we would go play on the river banks. sometimes got stuck but it was alot of fun. i guess there is a alabama redneck joke in there somewhere. im glad this was before cell phone cameras and internet.

Ever had one of those cars that was nice when you got it but owned long enough it was a POS when you were done with it? Car that sticks out for us (wife’s car) was a 2000 Malibu LS. Was 2 years old and had 60k when we bought it. Got it really cheap because of the high miles. We owned it 8 years and the wife put another 130k on it. She was fresh out of school herself and a teacher in a very rural area of RI. they had a shared lot and the one asshole kids there used to “bump” into it at least once a week so every body panel was damaged. One of the kids stripped all of the vinyl and cloth off of the rear door panel. Icing on the cake was the wife hit the fence in front of our house in January. It was single digits outside and the front bumper cover shattered. She drove it for years with a huge hole in the front of the car. It blew an intake gasket on the highway and over heated. We had no money so had the car repaired. Afterwards it has a really bad valve train noise for about the first minute you drove it. This went on for 3 years and never got any worse. This all being said, including the intake gasket, we put under $1000 into that car in those 8 years and it never let her down. Only bad thing I can say about it is that car ate through front brakes. Did them probably 5 times but never once did the rears. We traded it for a HHR which was probably the best car we owned.

Our two current daily drivers were both bought new. My wife was getting out of a Mini S and just wanted something reliable. She likes small cars and wanted a Honda Fit. She didn’t want to go new but used didn’t make any sense. Cars that were 4 years old with 60k on the clock were only a couple thousand less than new. Made no sense. And used trucks are tough. Either they’re really beat, really pricey, or both. My Colorado had 6 miles on it when I bought it. It’s a RST which is priced just under the Z71 but has less options. It’s also has the cab with the tiny backseat so it had been sitting for a while.

Bought a ‘93 Accord new. Drove it probably 15-17 years. Put 321,000 miles on it. Only did regular-ish maintenance. Only replaced the clutch once.

I sold it to a guy I worked with for a few hundred dollars. Radio, AC, Windshield washer and a few other things didn’t work. Had the typical rust around the rear wheel wells.

That car never let me down!

Man, you got your money's worth!!!

One of my boys has a 2008 Acura RSH, 216k, still on the original clutch. My daughter has an '07 Civic, 240k, also on the original clutch.

My Golf R got 65k on the original clutch after I tuned it for 100 more ft-lb of torque than it was design for. :p VWs are known for having milk chocolate clutches, so I was shocked it held that long. Hopefully whoever owns it now is able to keep the clutch going, now that it's back to the factory tune...
