It's weird how nerd music changes throughout the ages, ya know? I was born the same year as Def Leppard's Hysteria album and G'n'R's Appetite For Destruction, so that had me turning 13 in 2000...prime age for forming musical opinions, ya know? Mouse over the first part of that sentence for a little article about how your musical opinions start being cemented in your early teen years. But, we were always taught/told that prog rock bands (like Rush, Styx, etc.) were nerdy bands in the 70s...The "cool kids" listened to other stuff.

By the time I was in junior high and high school, nerd music was in whatever sort of alt-pop-rock Weezer fits into, which leached into pop-punk soundings like Bowling For Soup, and even bordered on "emo" music with bands like All American Rejects.

I never thought of it as "nerd" music. It was music more appreiciated by other musicians for the techincal stuff.

I just started defining bands by whether they have a large female following or not. Seems to be a lot easier that way lol. I don't know many women who listen to Rush, Meshuggah, Periphery, Car Bomb, and so on. It's weird, but these types of music has our male caveman minds bonding with each other lol

Good morning, everyone. We're creeping up on our anniversary, but this year I wont be asking for any support. You've been my only family for many, many years now and you've helped me through some really tough times in life.

In the beginning, I believed that my ability to admit when I was wrong, and to distinguish fact from opinion, is what made us different and successful... and I think the survivors here today are the ones who understood me and agreed with me. But the death of my father taught me how to look deeper into life, and it's not enough to know that something's wrong... if you're going to fix it, you need to know why it's wrong, too.

My dad was the greatest guy on Earth, and he was the biggest asshole on Earth. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... but while our personalities may be identical, our philosophies were quite different. He believed that being such a great guy, entitled him to be an asshole... I believe that being such a great guy, will cause people to look deeper and see that I'm only kidding, when I'm acting like an asshole.

Regardless, of why or how I'm who I am, lately I feel like the sarcasm that gave birth to this place, is likely doing more harm than good. I laugh at my own jokes, and laughter is the best medicine, but medicine is no substitute for clean living. My philosophies got us started, on the right foot, with the right attitude, and something wonderful to offer the world, but now its time to ditch my philosophies and allow this place to grow and be better.

You guys tolerated me for a lot longer than anyone else would, and that makes you all my best friends. I'll keep this place going and make sure that everything is always doing what it needs to, but it's up to you all to turn it into something much better than I could, and hopefully that will help it to grow. I love you all and you'll always be Kings in my world. You'll always know where to find me, 24/7.

Reach out to me if you want to take a role in developing the site. I hope my stepping back has a positive outcome here.
