This will sound like stupid post but I swear it's true.
Posted on TB and then remembered not all go to the dark side.
Ideas?

Love my tone and have been on the search for a light OD pedal for a bit of thickening and taking the edge off a clean tone for some songs.
I have / had a Broughton SV Pre and Fliptop, Linden pedal, VT bass DI, and Arion Bass OD.
They are all very nice but not exactly what I'm looking for. I found that the OD button on my little Peavey Max 100 practice amp is exactly what I'm looking for!
Any thoughts on how to get there with a pedal for my gigging rig?

I've seen a few different Peavey clone pedals, all are/were DIY though.

Edit: here's a commercial one, from (gasp) Peavey: https://reverb.com/item/3602633-peavey-max-100-transtube-pedal-preamp

Goddammit.
Had a whole post that wouldn't post.
Almost thought I was back on WP.

Anyway @Jim C
This is awesome
Buy it, try it, if you don't like it, you can easily flip it.

I got a Durham Sex Drive which gives me very light OD and some interesting compression dynamics.
Only tried it with a small combo amp but it sounds great. I originally thought it didn't get enough of an overdriven sound and used a clean booster in front of it. Turns out it's perfect used alone with the gain full up. Pretty sure the compressor release dynamics are too slow on the high setting for me.
Not exactly like the OD on the Peavey amp I was looking for but I think I like it better.

It just sounds so dirty!
Nice but just a little too much for me on those clips.

It is so kind of you to think of me for this although I just got some very bad news.
My company Atlantic Engineering had the best year ever last year.
My quarterly estimated taxes were paid but it turns out I have a HUGE tax bill. Like stupid high.
Timing is just not right on this.
Please pass it on to someone else and thanks very much for thinking of me!

I should be grateful to have made money. I put every dime I could into the buis. account as my partner and I split up and thought I'd need a loan to buy a house. As it turned out, we are back together and stronger than ever. I could have delayed many of the billing and deposits. I feel really stupid right now.

I tried finding a reliable demo on YouTube, but came up empty.

Is there a specific song you can link, to give me an idea of the exact tone your looking for.

I have a copious amount of drive pedals, and know all they're sounds.

I could help you narrow it down.
Finally found it!
Live video of the Faces playing Loosing You.
Best I can tell the bass overdriven tone might just be a pushed B-15.

Here is a clip of John K playing part of this bass riff using a Runoff Ginger pedal which is still available from Smokin Amp company for $110 shipped.

The Durham Sex Drive is pretty nice but is just a little too subtle.
Thankfully it was bought at a really good price so I should be able to get out clean.
Ironic that I love the tone of Ampegs but wasn't happy with the Broughton pedal or the VT Bass DI.
Thoughts?

Edit: What a killer band and Kenny Jones is king

Love that tone!

I've been able to get it from a couple different pedals.

The Broughton SV-PRE (when overdriving, I'll turn the low switch to cut, then bring lows back with the bass control. Then turn high boost on, then cut highs to get more clarity without the hiss)

The Saturn VI is another, along with the Fuzzrocious Lil Fella.

Haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure the Scorpion will nail that tone as well.

Thanks; I was hoping that "the king of distortion" would check in on this.
Haven't found much fingerstyle playing with the Saturn VI on bass.

Revisiting this.

Tried that tone with the Broughton Scorpion.

Can absolutely nail that pushed/cranked amp tone. The key is the depth control, and the right EQ settings.
