Did you ever try to play the Toro in passive mode? If so, do you remember whether the bass control acted like a volume control? Both of mine do and I'm trying to figure out if that's normal. Haven't had time to get under the hood(s) yet.
I did play it in passive mode, but did not care for it as much as active. The pickups are super hot, and I did pull back on the bass control, not so much for volume, but more to not distort the speakers. Probably the loudest bass I owned!

That was a good, clear read pretty much free from unsubstantiated hypotheses.

Gordon and Upfront are where mine came from too.

My feeling is that; as G&L fans, we really lucked out. All of us got involved with G&L while they were pro-grade, cheap, and unique. And by the time that they started to belly-up, most of us saw the writing on the wall and were able to jump ship... which was all really a formality.

Was G&L run worse than anyone else? I dont think so. Ive seen MANY brands die off, who were much more popular than G&L.

I suspect that the name will continue on, but regardless, my Kilo and LB are perfect, and they're the exact basses that I spent my life chasing... They cured my GAS, and honestly Im glad to see G&L die. It was very painful for me to watch their amazing potential being completely missed. Their time to die passed many years ago, and they were embarrassing themselves with their weak efforts.

They shouldve left on a high-note.

When management either steps in the way of change, or turns a blind eye to dysfunction, they're doomed.
Unfortunately, you and I are the ants in the equation. Ive seen MANY irreplaceable employees replaced, and Ive seen many horrific managers come into power.

Truth be told, one of the all-time BEST work-place scams is "Middle Management".

Think about it, EVERYONE wants to be the boss... and although very few are qualified, the companies keep hiring them with ZERO experience. It's a perfectly orchestrated deception. The managers jump at the chance for the job, and because they're promised big, rapid advancement, they take less money. Then they come onboard with big ideas to "FIX" the company, but they're never given the power to do so.

A year later, they realize that they were duped, so they exclaim "Good luck finding my replacement", as they march out the door... and a week later, stooge number 482 steps up to the plate as the new sucker manager.

Brought home a new friend today:

This was actually two trades. I've owned this neck before, but traded the bass to my buddy Paulo.

Today I traded an SB-1 for this SB-2.

Then Paulo confessed that he prefers rosewood fretboards. I prefer maple, and I also liked the profile of his neck better. So we traded SB-2 necks.

I realize it doesn't completely align, but it plays well enough for me, and we agreed that either one of us could request a swap back.

So here's what he's got:

I would have loved to have gotten the blue one back whole, but that wasn't in the cards today :)

So I'm happy to have an SB-2 with flats and another with rounds.

I don't see any serious lack of alignment. If so, can't you loosen the screws and move the neck a bit?

When I had this issue, I used a 3M diapad to slightly "open up" the neck pocket. Worked perfectly.

Not sure I want to do anything like that, since we may not keep the necks swapped permanently.

It seemed like there might be a bit of room for the neck to move. I can see a very thin wedge-shaped gap where the right side of the neck heel meets the body. But the screws pull the neck half a degree to the left.

Paulo seems like a cool dude, and has good taste!
