One of my old buddies from there texted me about it last night so I checked it out this morning. Slow as molasses, and everyone whining. What's changed?

He said they now have downvoting and it sounds like they've made it more like Reddit, but the servers can't handle it and the supporting members are seeing more ads. I never see ads because I use an ad blocker. But it's just one more reason to be glad I don't go there.

In other news, while I was there I saw a post complaining about having to play in 111*F temperatures today. Derp: "We signed a contract."

People do know they can write in a clause allowing cancellation for extreme weather, right? Guess not. It's gotta be someone else's fault that you're about to die from heatstroke. And a bunch of others coming in to give advice on how to live through it. LOL.

I don't even look at TB unless I have a specific need. Just in case Pacman sees me lurking.
But I've noticed virtually every forum owned by TGP/TDPRI/etc.. - the landing page is a who's who of "threads I want to ignore". Which brings up a good point - thread ignore is a xenforo feature they refused to roll out. Probably because it would reduce the banality of it.

I love the regular for/against threads on TGP, they are like daytime tv soap operas. Same cast, same script every time. Tone is in the fingers, tonewoods, tube vs modelling, Gibson hate, Marshall is finished, only dentists buy PRS etc.

If I hadnt read this, I wouldnt have believed that every music forum on the internet, could be summed up in 3 sentences.

I don't see the big deal, but humans hate change. Making ANY change always results in a lot of people scowling with their lower lip stuck out, muttering "Don't LIKE it!!" like a petulant two-year-old.

The questions and complaints from those who clearly haven't spent 90 seconds trying to orient themselves to the new interface are amusing and make it easy to feel superior to the malcontents who metaphorically lie down on the floor and scream like a frustrated toddler in Toys R'Us.

Give it another few weeks and the Luddites will slink back into their caves.

(I guess they better not ask me for sympathy, huh?? )

Never mind.
I had to reset my password and things are back to normal.

Now about that donation / fund raiser....
Every November (which is our anniversary) I ask everyone to kick in if they can. It pays our site bills. Some years, the bills are higher than others, because some of our crap is billed in two-year packages.

But at this point, there are enough people here that if folks become a "Premium Member" it usually pays the bills. Plus sometimes, rich old ladies donate anonymously, which explains why I had to change the name of Westerly Hall, to The Mrs. Kibbles Wing.

Anywho, for $100, I can send you an SCTMMC drink coaster, an SCTMMC sticker, a Smart Ass sticker, and the worlds best SCTMMC guitar pick. But dont tell anyone else because all of that shit is rare as Hell.
