i figured it was something like that. i get that a lot.People get jealous of anyone who's better looking than they are, basically.![]()
It's a zoo and it's a blast. That must have been cool. I've never been to NAMM.
EGGSACTLY!!!I had no idea who Timothee Chalamet or Ian Hill are until i just did a search
I've even played a few JP songs onstage many years ago, but Rob Halford is the only name I knew to be associated with that band.EGGSACTLY!!!
I suspect that Ian Hill has led a very happy, fruitful life... as a complete nobody, who is best friends with and has 24/7 access to the most famous musicians of the last 60 years.
You could literally have front row seats to a Judas Priest concert, leave the concert, go to Arbys, and he could hand you your order at the drive-though window, without you recognizing him.
The Guitar players for JP... Glen Tipton and KK Downing, were just about as famous as a guitar player could possibly get.I've even played a few JP songs onstage many years ago, but Rob Halford is the only name I knew to be associated with that band.
Fuck it! Lets pack up our shit and tour the USA with our upright acoustic rendition of the JP catalogue! Honestly, I think we'd be selling out venues by the end of the first month. We just need a guitarist. I can easily handle the vocals and kazoo. This is far from my worst idea.I've even played a few JP songs onstage many years ago, but Rob Halford is the only name I knew to be associated with that band.
But enough about Motley Crue, how's the Pontiac coming?i could see if they just posed and had no playing ability.
Not in 1960-1980 it wasnt.letting someone be the singer just because they own
the pa system is crazy.
been cleaning the shop, hurt my back and trying to get the nerve to go back out there. the firebird is ready to crank and listen to that sweet sound. gotta finish the 6 speed pressing gears off and replacing them with new. nothing special. i decided to replace the main shaft it has about .025 run out from the chipped gears. i could straighten it but found a new one cheap. should be like new when done. But enough about Motley Crue, how's the Pontiac coming?
true. now you got those that can fix your singing. Not in 1960-1980 it wasnt.
Maybe so for those in your generation, and they did sell a metric shit ton of records, but almost no one in the scenes around me at that time listened to that type of music at all. It's actually something I wouldn't mind revisiting and looking to steal some stuff from, so I like your idea about doing an off kilter tribute thing. Touring, not so much though. I haven't been to a legit concert in about 4 1/2 years, and if I ever do go to another one it'll have to be in just the right venue. No idea what that might look like though, in all honesty. I only go to bars these days to play music and we don't even have a viable indoor rock venue around here anymore, the one I used to mix in got sold and is going to be some kind of uptown hotel/spa thing now. I recently was pitched on mixing some outdoor festival shows next year, without having to do any substantial grunt setup/teardown work. Between that and some potential new playing projects I've been working towards, maybe some more joy from music will come back into my life. It's ironic, as my playing has never been better and I seem to be getting a lot more respect from the pros around here that I admire the most. But those guys are all playing for chump change now, like I used to, which is only OK if it's original stuff I love, otherwise I'd rather just give it away at open mics occasionally when I feel like it.The Guitar players for JP... Glen Tipton and KK Downing, were just about as famous as a guitar player could possibly get.
i think so too. even i recognize the names. heavy hitters. from the stuff i seen here i think we got some on this forum as well. i haven't seen all of you guys.Hmmm. Bass players of my generation...?
Chas Chandler
Jack Bruce
James Jamerson
Carol Kaye
The Duck
John Lodge
John Paul Jones
Jerry Scheff
Ronnie Wood
Bill Wyman
Some guy named McCartney
Peter Cetera
John Entwhistle
Ray Brown
Charles Mingus
Jack Casady
Some guy named Jaco
Bootsy Collins
I think there were some good ones in there.
Yep, and my list would be 2-3 times deeper, easily. But a lot of those would be jazz players many here probably aren't super familiar with. Jaco was arguably only the third best bass player in Weather Report according to me, for instance.Hmmm. Bass players of my generation...?
