I didn't like how the jazz pickup hummed and I couldn't find a hot rail type jazz pickup

So a regular hot rail does just fine. Just as sharp sounding, without the hum, and twice the output. The pickup was like 20$ Canadian too lol

A fourth wall break inside a fourth wall break.
I'm so jealous 😍 beauitful instruments. I'd say "especially that Ric" because I love Ric's, but I have a feeling the Spector plays better
Dude, it pays having friends in a similar circle.
The Spector/Ric, hell, even the Spector/Spector combo cost less combined than the price of a new Euro Spector.
I've overpaid plenty, but I've also made friends, been lucky, and found myself some good deals.

I'm the kinda guy who buys a Jackson minion, installs a hot rail, and calls it a baritone guitar. It will be ages before I can afford a spector or Ric 🤣

Now, a Ric clone. That I might be able to afford

I've been playing for 25+ years.
I've been many places throughout my life.
For richer or poorer.
I'm grateful for my life leading to certain instruments.
And yet, my life leads me further.

I started playing upright in 1964; got my first electric bass in 1967. I took a long musical layoff from 1973-1996, but I've been playing and trying out different basses since I resumed. One of the few basses I've never yearned for is a Rick - I like the look but the cost/benefit proposition leaves me quite cold. That's good because I don't need to save up for one.

Rather than start a new thread, I decided to post here. I'm gonna be sanding down my home made flying V now that it's warm, and I got myself a can of Rustoleum "hammered finish" antique pewter. I also got myself some material to make a proper pick guard. Gonna try make this one look a lot better

Can you exchange the paint for some clear?
I probably could, but imma commit to this color. While I like wood finishes, I think more non musicians would be impressed if I actually managed a spray coat haha. They weren't too impressed with it before so out of a stupid desire to impress em, imma push through with it

Added some putty between the neck and body and sanded it after it dried, the neck is glued and bolted in, so I'm converting this to a "set neck"

I also made a better pickguard. It's not very good plastic but it's better than cardboard lol. Gonna sand it to make the edges more straight
