After a few decades of pickup swaps I decided to put it back the way I found it. Well - the duncans are long gone but I just tossed an Amazon wired pickguard - they are alnico 5 though. I decided part of the reason I don't play any other guitars is this one was too generalized - had a neck rail in parallel and a filtertronny bridge humbucker. So it's now my hardtail strat. And only does strat things. If it looks like a strat, but doesn't quack like a strat, it's not a strat.

Now to slowly start fixing all the other projects that don't get played. Like finding the EMG's I pulled out of my floyd equipped shredder that sits on the rack with a broken string
.
Now to go fix ALL my patches

Honestly I did the same thing. I had this hot rail in the bridge and neck. I ended up putting the original single coil back in the neck and putting a coil split in the bridge hot rail, and I was able to achieve the Strat quack again. Made me realise it didn't need any changing

I love How BOOMERS sound new! let me know how long they last. I seem to remember they had a "short" lifespan. That, however was like 30 years ago 😁
I think the "short" lifespan stems from their "settling in" period, where the new string zing disappears into the string's natural voicing, low-mid punch.
I've had good luck with boomers, one set has been swapped across two Wunkays, and isn't what I call a "dead" string, even though I've had that set for a few years.
To my ears, a dead string has no sustain, or notable character.
I have a number of basses, so they all don't get the same play time.
Therefore, they tend to last me a very long time.
I've only had a few strings that were either DOA, or died prematurely.

I've always been a 60's sound guy, and that has usually meant well aged flats. There have been a couple of basses I have liked better with rounds that are at least 2-3 years old.

I have about a dozen basses and some are rarely played, so I have strings on those up to 20 years old. Most are at least 5 years old.

I can say that I'm happy with removing the 50 year old strings from my 1963 P and replacing them with the Labella 760FL set. They're fine, and I can turn down the treble so keep the sound I prefer.

Just picked up this Behringer 4x12 stereo guitar cabinet from Facebook marketplace for free. It works good, but the grill is all busted. Plugged my joyo zombie into it and now I got two half stack guitar amps lol

If I plug the Joyo zombie effects loop send into my Yorkville MP4 PA system head input, and plug that into the cabinet, I got a 150 watt half stack with a tube preamp.

Things are looking up

Not new gear but i redid the rack cabinet (diy) and pulled out the line mixer that I don't think I need anymore. these cabinets were holding up my desk and I removed it from support duty and made another leg so i don't have to disassemble my desk to make wiring changes.

Stupid me made the rack just a hair too tight. It fits ears but not rails because it's about 3/8" too narrow

This is my PC and interface and hw synth. Theres also some DIN stuff that goes below. n100 and pi that run on battery backed up poe. file_000000006d7471fda0859f3d25359941.png
