Wife is proving to be a hard sell. She's fought me for 17 years on a truck. These are way outside her comfort zone and she has a grossly unrealistic idea of what vehicles cost nowadays, especially trucks.

I can forgo AC. Nice if you can get it but this ain't a Suburban with in seat entertainment and separate cup holders so each kid has a sippy cup holder and a goldfish cup holder

remember when trucks were trucks. see if you can sell its a tool to improve the home.

I've already told her it would vastly improve the speed at which we can empty the garage into storage, wire it up for a dehumidifier/mini split, and move the crap storage into the shed and use the garage for the shop. Currently you can't work in either, and my tools are split between the shed and the garage. I'm confident we can throw 30-50% of the crap away but it's one of those things where you have to touch it before you can get a handle on it. The idea is move it all out, get the electrical done, then be a bit more careful about what comes back. I thought this would be a slam dunk.

If one more person tells me I can build a house for $20,000 or buy a 2x4 for $1.79, Im gonna figuratively die. A Toyota pickup with 230,000 miles on it, is selling for $10k.

She likes to complain about it. It reminds me of a yellow pages ad i heard once. Why don't you advertise? See that sign? "It says Earl's Rug" Not "Earl's Rugs". I ain't got but one. If I sold it, I'd be out of business". The junk in the garage is a handy hopes and dreams blocker for my woodshop. If I take care of that one, the replacement will likely be more soul crushing.

It just is what it is right now. I’ll add to your diagnosis to include the folks that don’t realize it’s a global issue and not unique to the US.

My middle kid is going to be in the market for a car soon. He wants a point A to point B mode of transportation and nothing more. I recommended a Corolla as his best option since he’ll be buying used. $15k for one that’s 8 years old with 100k on it. Told him to save a little longer and get a slightly newer one with less miles.

Correct. We do pretty decent with the truck when we can get out with it.
