Light rain this AM, sunny and looking for high 60s today. Graduation weekend at Colorado State University, and yesterday was quite lovely and high 70s.

Yesterday my town had a "Y'all come free" hazardous waste collection day. I got rid of four partial cans of old brake fluid that wasn't safe to use, and a half-dozen quarts of quite old motor oil. Nice to get them out of the garage.

Just ran my resume through Google Gemini and got a whole new setup/template. We'll see.

That guy called again yesterday, so I was quite frank in saying that I don't have $1000 right now and had no idea what differentiated him from any of the sub-$300 resume services I've been looking into online. His sales pitch was that he actually does use people/individual writers to do resumes, and that he's got lots of local industry connections for job hunting purposes...really leaning into the upsell for local networking and opportunities.

Speaking of local opportunities, when I went to the staffing agency last week, they asked if I had any "actual" experience in factories or production work, to which I had to explain (once again) that working in a brewery isn't just chillin' with da boyz drinkin beers in the back, and that we are in fact an industrial-scaled beverage production facility (something that even our executives, board of directors, and shareholders don't understand).

I have a daughter who's an exec at a firm that works a lot with AI. She said one trick is to see if you can figure out which AI system that the company uses to sort resumes, and then use that AI parent to construct the resume. She says all the AI systems will prefer a document prepared with their own software.

That leaves the question of howthehell you figure out which AI system is used - evidently she can tell from the questions.

A little more finessing (and a supreme lack of free time) and I've submitted my first 3 job apps with an AI resume, so we'll see how that goes.

I interviewed for an internal job posting/promotion back in April for the Production Manager opening that was posted, and there are pretty substantive rumors that they're going with 1 of 2 outside hires...they wanted someone "untainted by internal company politics," and since I apparently bombed the interview by calling out specific things I'd try to fix, they don't want me there. I often suspected that they just interviewed me to placate me, but I have no idea.

The stress is getting to me; I don't feel well physically or mentally. And, since I got my PTO denied for a long weekend in mid-June, I'm thinking hard about just putting in my 2 weeks and going on vacation anyway.
