i agree with that. things im more interested in is what techniques do you like to use to make the instrument play easier. or setting the action and type of strings for certain hand strengths. tips and tricks type of thing. You have to "want to be the rockstar." That was some solid advice I got from a teacher back when I worked at the guitar store...not necessarily that you'd ever want to be specifically Eddie VanHalen, Mick Mars, or Yngwie Malmsteen, but your drive to improve has to come within; you have to have an internal vision of the player you want to be.
Yeah, that about sums me up as well.I'm a bass player and a guitar owner.
I don't have one yet. Lefties aren't too common. I stole the picture from a old Reverb listing.
I used to practice daily/ weekly... now I havnt practiced in well over a year. I don't need to practice, to do what we do, so I dont bother. It's not like the guitar players are.I hear the number 1 thing is practice.

Same.I'm a bass player and a guitar owner.
How I applied this was taking 2 months of lessons and telling my instructor that I wanted to learn how to learn...I wanted to be equipped to at least look at a chord sheet or tab and bash my way through it. The result was that I learned the 5 chords and a handful of strumming patterns...2/2, 3/4, and a couple 4/4...and I have to sort of hum the lyrics to myself to feel out where the guitar rhythm hits the syllables/words. My "rockstar" moment was listening to Shooter Jennings' Lonesome Blues and realizing that it was the same strumming pattern that I'd been taught for Ben E. King's Stand By Me...I could take what I'd been taught and apply it to a song that I actually wanted to learn, and I could do it within the framework of the lessons I'd been taking.i agree with that. things im more interested in is what techniques do you like to use to make the instrument play easier. or setting the action and type of strings for certain hand strengths. tips and tricks type of thing.
