I remember playing around with that somewhere and coming up with some really funny combos!

At long last, the bass for Betty Blowtorch & Butt Trumpet is for sale. At a very reasonable price.

I figured that was a bargain compared to a $900,000 1996 Jazz bass. Oh wait they dropped it to $250k.

The new electronics for my bargain 50% off CV Jazz Bass arrived so that will be tomorrows task. Might take awhile since soldering has become more difficult with age. I also found a 35" scale 5 string I want to check out mostly because it's a great brand and it's cheap. Gonna see if the store will do a straight swap for one of my guitars I seldom play. It's worth at least as much as they want for the bass and I've done a successful trade with them before.

See what happens when I start hanging with you all. I start buying even more basses I don't need!!! :ROFLMAO:

I don't see myself ever buying another full scale.
Once I played played a 35" scale 5 string (my old Modulus M92-5) it's been much tougher to accept a 34" scale version. I can feel the difference.

Now I need another bass like I need another ex-wife but since I have a guitar that is nearly brand new and has had very little play if the bass passes muster and the store will deal with me fairly like they did before I would swap one for the other. Since both tend to sell in a very similar price range the question for them is would my guitar sell faster than that bass? If so we may be able to deal.

Previously I traded them a '95 Telecaster for an '09 Robert Cray Strat based on a very similar thought process. Hardtail Strats are not fast sellers and but a 20+ year old Tele in excellent condition in a LPB finish wouldn't last long if priced right. I knew they got that Strat cheap by buying out inventory from another dealer who was closing up shop so I had some leverage and was able to make a deal.

We'll see what happens this time. First of all I would have to like the bass enough to own it knowing I don't have much need for a "fiver" right now either but then variety is the spice of life and one guitar with humbuckers is all I need. I currently have two so one can go if I choose.

A fourth wall break inside a fourth wall break.
The
The Schecter "fiver" was a bust. Nice looking bass with EMG/HZ pickups and decent electronics but a neck profile as flat and shallow as that one and I will never become friends. If a nice Peavey Cirrus 5 string pops up somewhere that may be the ticket or somehow, somewhere, someday I finally find that Modulus I sold.

Peavey GV (5-string)
Is the way to go.
Not Modulus produced necks, like many say.
I believe it was Bell and Carlson that made them.

Narrow spacing, 35" scale (I believe)

Thank Pool. I'll add that to my prospects list and yes 17.5" spacing. Not many around at the moment but it's not like I have to have a "fiver" right now anyway. I finished up that Jazz Bass tonight by installing the new electronics and adjusting the pickup height. Interestingly enough Fender has spec'd them with poplar bodies now instead of basswood. Poplar can soak up a bit more high end so I'll need to mess around with amp settings for a bit to get it dialed in as I like it.

With the upgrades I added it's a very well behaved good playing bass. Most definitely giggable just like my CV Matt Freeman PBass. Who gives a diddly phuc what it says on the headstock.
