I've been following this club on TB called "Official Exquisite/Glarry/Burning Fire Bass Club". Nice bunch of guys and very helpful with mods.

This is another $100 Chinese bass copy of a Fender P but the big difference is the weight (all seem to be under 7lbs.) and the claim that these play either great or very well right out of the box. I tried the SX bass years ago and thought they were just OK and what you'd expect for $100 delivered.

This Glarry bass is really exceptional regardless of price point. It weighs 6 lbs. 12 ounces and the neck is super straight and needs no fretwork or nut adjustment right out of the box. The 1 5/8" nut and chunky neck are awesome. The pickup seemed a little low in output but that all changed with lowering the action a bit. There is virtually no relief in the neck but I hesitate to adjust the truss rod as it plays really well. Better than a couple of expensive Fenders I have. I like the tone just fine so maybe no need to swap the pup.
I could see lighter tuners for a better balance although it's OK with a suede lined strap. These guys have it figured out!

Much like a Tele it's probably not that difficult to manufacture an instrument that's been around for 70 years provided the labor costs are cheap enough. At a cost of just $100 you could throw couple hundred dollars of upgrades on it and have bass that's probably the equivalent of one that lists for 5x to 10x that much. Thanks for the preview Jim.

That Reo Fedner sure knows how to build them to a price point...:ninja:

I always preferred this Glarry model though: https://www.glarrymusic.com/glarry-...er-sunset-burlywood-white-black-red-p269.html

I'm thinking abut using my Moody strap which cost $20 more than the bass at the time (now $40 more). The strap is simple and quality USA made leather. But how can it cost less than a bass that's on par with Fenders at 10X the price and is a featherweight??
I get why you Goth guys and vampire folks really dig the other scary bass....

Holy crap. I played my new WD-800 head through my GR Bass 410 today. Killer rig. You can kill me now because I'll never find anything in heaven that's any better.

That's worked out well then! If you ever decide to go for a smaller cab the Mesa 212 is a great choice and a perfect match, best cab I have ever owned.

As a mod platform the Burning Fire model would work a lot better for me since I already have a couple of spare sets of soapbar pickups on hand. The Glarry hard cases cost more than the instruments, gotta love that. :ROFLMAO:

I have a RevSound 210 that I almost always take out but this venue was outdoors and I've always felt underpowered in there in the past. Not today!

I'd love to hear what the Mesa heads sound like paired with the Mesa cabs.

Seems I have an upcoming tiny gig in a tiny venue... apparently so small you need to be able to sit on your amp. Tricky with my Ampeg PF-50t. So I've ordered a RB 108 combo as they're discounted so much now I could spend more on cello strings. I guess if that doesn't look like it'll work I'll use it at home and get a RB 110 as well.

I bought my kid an RB108. It's a good sounding little amp!
