Using an EQ700 as a place holder... it all fits. No stacking unless if i want to move the HPF. The EQ does a nice job of goosing the Simplifier but that won't work for bass. (it loses all bottom end) The irony of needing to bypass the amp that loses low end and adding in the HPF is humourous but... bass was hurting.

TB gravitates towards $300 pedals that don't exist anymore. Anyone have suggestions for something no bigger than a 1590B and less than $120 that does "is it on" grunt/growl with zero trace of fizziness for bass? Either it fits the sound, the budget and the board or just go direct with compressor/eq

For moderate bass drive the venerable "Tillman" FET preamp is pretty swell. That'll fit in a 1590A or something even smaller. No EQ of any kind though, if that matters. I haven't tried one on my new acoustic guitar yet, but I remember it working pretty well for the mag pickup on my friend's Gibson J-160 when we tried it a few years ago.

Personally, I tend to prefer parallel drive with a blend control.. Things can get complicated fast when going that route though.

Oh, and I did one WTHPF pedal build with a bit more gain at the front end, which does mild drive quite well, but it was a total PITA to fit everything in a Gorva C65, which is roughly comparable to a 125B. Since it has a variable LPF killing fizz is super easy. Josh Broughton's Resonant Filter EQ is on a similar page, for the most part.

I have enough ideas floating around I should build something.
1) heavy filtering pre clipping
2) push-pull clipping/summing/balance - so the balance knob goes Even Only-Everything-Odd Only. It takes a couple summing/inversion stages to get the even harmonics only signal but I think it'll work.
3) post clipping filter
4) blend.

The goal being to try to get as much of the first few harmonics and not a lot of fizz without killing the direct top end.Without blend the filter intrudes on the dry signal. Anyway - until I get into the effects business...this is my briefcase sized electric/acoustic/bass pedalboard.

Compressor/Spark/Eq works nicely for occasional bass. If I were playing bass more often I'd probably want a preamp pedal there, depending on not complicating the acoustic guitar use case.

I have some clipping coming through the monitors on bass but its weird. It sounds like clipping not over excursion but if happens even at very low volume at low frequency. Maybe compressor weirdness/tracking the wave at low frequencies as if it were envelope? Not sure but I think I've heard of that with fast attack times. I like this compressor on guitar a lot and not sure I have room for even an 87 over there. Plus i like the blend control.
